Android TV 12 firmware is now available for Chromecast with Google TV 4K

USA: A firmware update is now available for Chromecast with Google TV, and the operating system has been significantly upgraded from Android TV 10 to Android TV 12.

The Google standalone streaming device, which runs on Android TV software with Google TV user interface on top, was released globally in 2020 but reached India only in 2022.

The new software update is now available for Google TV 4K devices with Chromecast. This includes enhancements to surround sound and HDR format settings, among other things.

In our own long-term review unit, Gadgets360 confirmed that the update is now rolling out to Chromecast with Google TV 4K.

The new firmware upgrades Android TV from version 10 to version 12 and has a build number of STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754.

The update also increases the level of Android security patching to July 2022. The update weighs in at 722 MB.

The software update includes feature enhancements such as a new camera and microphone privacy toggle, additional user settings that let you control the HDR format, and surround sound.

Ability to switch refresh rates while maintaining content frame rates, and more in terms of privacy, security, bug fixes and performance enhancements.

The Google TV user interface started with the Chromecast, but is now present on many products from other manufacturers such as Sony and Realme.

Only the most recent Chromecast with Google TV 4K, which was introduced to the world in 2020, is currently compatible with the latest software update.

Additionally, the business recently introduced a less expensive full-HD Chromecast with Google TV model, selling for Rs. 4,499 in India.

The more expensive version supports Dolby Vision and Ultra-HD streaming as well as high dynamic range content.
