USA: Android users can now add a description to forwarded photos, videos, GIFs, and documents via WhatsApp. Select beta testers are currently receiving the feature through WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.22.

Recall that WhatsApp once made it possible for users to send media files with pre-written captions. However, users can now replace the default caption with a custom one.

Following the introduction of the option to keep or remove the caption when forwarding media or documents, WhatsApp is now enabling users to annotate the forwarded content with their own text.

Simply delete the current description and replace it with a custom text that describes the media or file precisely. People can give the media that has been forwarded more context thanks to the new feature. Notably, a separate message will be sent with the description.

Users could only keep or remove the default caption for media/document forwarding in WhatsApp up until this point.

However, with the new function, a box with a text caption entry field will appear at the bottom when you select a contact to forward media.

The inclusion of a self-explanatory message will reduce misunderstandings and improve the receivers' comprehension of the media's content.
