USA: WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will enable users to block calls from unauthorized numbers on their Android phones. Contacts will continue to appear in the call log and in Notification Center.

Currently in development, the new feature will be made available to beta testers soon. But at least we can get a preview of it with the help of WABetaInfo.

Spam calls have seen a significant increase in recent years, not only in regular calls but also on platforms like WhatsApp. There is no way to silence WhatsApp calls when your internet connection is active.

In spite of the fact that you have options like "Do Not Disturb" and others for phone calls. The new function will help mute spam calls, thereby reducing interruptions.

In groups, your phone number is always heard. Additionally, anyone who has your WhatsApp contact information can contact you normally.

This can pose a serious problem as random strangers may try to hook up with you without your knowledge or consent. Thankfully, the "Silence Unknown Callers" function will save the day.

After the development process is over, Android phones will have an option to block incoming calls from unauthorized numbers. Once applied, the setting options will include a toggle to silence incoming calls from unknown numbers.

Upon activation, incoming calls from unknown numbers will be muted. Remember that Caller ID and Notification Center will still display the calling number.

Today, spam calls have become a significant problem. Scammers often use phone calls to defraud people or obtain personal information.

This issue also affects instant messaging apps. Users will soon be able to mute calls from unknown or spam numbers in WhatsApp, which currently allows users to block and report spammers.
