India saw a moment of pride at the 18th Asian Games 2018, which were held in Jakarta on Sunday, August 19, 2018.
Bajrang Punia, an Indian Wrestler managed to bag the first gold medal for India with his victory of a score 11-8 against Japan's Takatani Daichi.
He won the Gold medal for the nation in the category of men's freestyle 65 kg final.
It has informed that Bajrang Punia had first marked his victory against Khasanov Sirojjidin of Uzbekistan. This victory of his had led him to the quarter-final.
Post winning the gold, Bajrang Punia on his official Twitter page, shared pictures of himself from the battleground and expressed his joy regarding his victory. He wrote that he dedicates the gold medal from the Asian Games to the former PM of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee . Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away on the 16th of August, 2016.
Congratulating him, on his victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, "Congratulations @BajrangPunia for the memorable victory in the 65 kg freestyle wrestling. This win is even more special because it is India's first Gold in the @asiangames2018. Best wishes for your future endeavours. #AsianGames2018".
Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor also congratulated Bajrang and tweeted, "BajrangPunia wrestles his way to India's 1st GOLD in the #AsianGames2018! What a fantastic win!

Indian athelete Saina Nehwal too, took to her social media page and wished the Indian wrestler. She wrote, "Congratulations @BajrangPunia gold medal #wrestling #asiangames2018"
