Jaipur: The world-famous fair to be held at Pushkar in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan will be held without cattle this year. In fact, the fair, which attracts thousands of tourists due to kinky skin disease and lumpy disease, is going to be held without an animal fair this time. The main attraction of this lively Pushkar Fair, which is held every year in the holy month of Kartik in Pushkar city, about 150 km from the capital Jaipur, is the cattle trade.

An official has informed that the state government has decided not to hold animal fairs this year due to lumpy disease in animals. However, other religious and cultural activities at the fair will continue from November 1 to November 7. Pushkar Sub Divisional SDM Sukhram Pindel has said that the cattle fair will not be held this year due to lumpy disease in cattle. Along with this, all other religious and cultural programs will be held. He said that preparations for the fair are at its peak.

According to an official of the Animal Husbandry Department, so far 15,59,859 animals have been affected by the lumpy disease in Rajasthan, out of which 74,495 have lost their lives till Tuesday and 11,84,163 have recovered. The cattle fair is held on sand dunes in Pushkar city, with pastoralists from different parts of the state coming with their cattle, especially horses.
