Mumbai: Anees Ansari has been sentenced to life imprisonment for plotting the terror attack on an American school in Mumbai. Anees is a computer engineer who was arrested by the Maharashtra ATS in 2014. It is alleged that his target was children studying in the school. He wanted to carry out this attack in a lone wolf manner. Anees is also said to be a supporter of the terrorist group ISIS. Anees was sentenced on Friday (October 21, 2022).

It is being described as the first punishment received in cyber terror in Maharashtra. According to media reports, this decision has been pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge AA Joglekar of a Mumbai court. The criminal Ansari worked as a technician in associate geographic in a private company. Due to this, he also misused his office computer. It is being said that Anees Ansari used to create a fake Facebook from the office and make objectionable and communal posts.

On October 18, 2014, he was arrested by the Maharashtra ATS. The security agency had alleged that Anees used to talk to Umar Alhaji on Facebook. Anees also supported ISIS on social media. He is accused of single-handedly trying to target children studying in an American school. The school was in Bandra-Kurla Complex. Anees could not get bail since 2014 due to strong evidence presented by ats. The investigating agency has given details of the discussion between Ansari Eva America's Omar Alhaji in the court. In that discussion, not only has there been talk of attacking children, but embassies have also been described as targets. Anees Ansari's lawyer Sharif Shaikh argued in the court that the criminal had not confessed to his crime.
