NEW DELHI: Ankita Raina has defeated Her 80-ranked player, Ysaline Bonaventure of Belgium, in a spectacular performance at the US Open. This is being treated as a major reversal. India's top female tennis player has taken another strong step towards playing Grand Slam. With this win, the star player of India has a golden opportunity to play the US Open. Ankita defeated Bonaventure 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.

At present, Bonaventure is the world's 114th-ranked player, while Ankita is the number 194 player. After winning the first tour, Ankita has a chance to make it to the main round. But before that, they will have to overcome the second and third round hurdles. In the second qualifier, Ankita will take on Denisa Eltova of the Czech Republic.

The Indian tennis player forced Bonaventure to make mistakes. Ankita's two double faults were followed by Bonaventure with five double faults.
