Mow: A case has been registered against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Bahubali MLA Mukhtar Ansari for allegedly giving arms licenses to four people. The case has been registered against MLA Mukhtar Ansari from the Mau Sadar Assembly seat at Dakshin Tola police station in the city.

According to the police, in 2001, Mukhtar Ansari recommended issuing arms licenses to four people on his letterhead. When the police verified, the address of these four arms holders turned out to be fake. According to the police, these arms licenses were prepared by putting up fake documents and affidavits. Of the four people who were issued arms licenses, one has died in a police encounter, while three others are said to be absconding. Police is searching for these three. The police have also registered a case against the then inspector and the accountant after this forgery surfaced.

Police have registered a case against 6 people including Mukhtar Ansari under sections 419, 420, 120B, 467, 468, 471 and section 30 of the Arms Act of the IPC. Mukhtar Ansari is currently imprisoned in Ropar Jail in Punjab. Mukhtar's elder brother Afzal Ansari is currently a BSP MP from Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat.
