New Delhi: Amid the ongoing political confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP over the liquor scam in the country's capital Delhi, now the problems of party MLA Amanatullah Khan seem to be increasing. AAP MLA and Waqf Board chief Amanatullah Khan has been questioned by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). The probe agency had summoned him on Friday afternoon for questioning in connection with a two-year-old corruption case related to the Waqf Board.
Quoting a senior ACB official, media reports said that the Okhla MLA has been called for questioning in the case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case was registered in 2020. Delhi Waqf Board chief Amanatullah Khan on Thursday shared a copy of the notice on Twitter. He wrote, "New office of Waqf Board has been built, have been called by ACB... has been called again!"
Earlier, the ACB had urged the LG Secretariat to remove Amanatullah Khan from the post of waqf board chief. The ACB had made the demand, accusing Khan of obstructing the investigation. The Anti-Corruption Bureau had also claimed that Amanatullah was also influencing witnesses in the investigation against him. Amanatullah Khan has been called for talks at a time when the Delhi government's health minister has been in jail for more than three months in a money laundering case, while excise minister and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is also facing a CBI probe.
