Chandigarh: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur, announced on Monday that India has cemented its position as the third-largest startup nation, boasting over one lakh startups. Thakur also underscored the significant growth of the nation's startup ecosystem.

Addressing the Rozgar Mela in Jalandhar, Punjab, Thakur stated, "Today, more than one lakh government jobs were provided through the Rozgar Mela organized at 47 locations across the country. PM Modi has fulfilled his promise of providing 10 lakh jobs in a year." He further highlighted that loans amounting to Rs 34 crore were disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), creating employment opportunities for millions of individuals. Additionally, 78 lakh street vendors benefited from loans provided under the PM SVANidhi Scheme. "Moreover, India stands as the third-largest startup nation with over one lakh startups," he added.

During the Rozgar Mela, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed appointment letters to newly recruited individuals via video conferencing. In his address, PM Modi congratulated the youths and their families, remarking, "Today, more than 1 lakh youth have received appointment letters for government jobs. You have achieved this success through hard work. I congratulate you all and your families very much."

Criticizing the previous government for job delays, PM Modi remarked, "The process of providing jobs to the youth in the Government of India is progressing rapidly. In earlier governments, it used to take a very long time from the issuance of job advertisement to the issuance of appointment letters. Exploiting this delay, corruption was rampant. We have now made the recruitment process in the Government of India completely transparent."

He emphasized the government's commitment to completing the recruitment process within the stipulated time, ensuring equal opportunities for every youth to showcase their abilities.

PM Modi commended the central government for its efforts to make the recruitment procedure transparent. The 'Rozgar Mela' campaign was launched by Prime Minister Modi on October 22, 2022, marking the beginning of the initiative to provide 10 lakh government jobs.
