The government is planning to build houses for the poor. As part of this, it has decided to provide specialized training from field level personnel to divisional level officers involved in housing construction. The government will undertake the construction of the first tranche of 15.60 lakh houses in the state under the 'Navratnas - Homes for the Poor' scheme. The government has already issued instructions to use the services of village secretariat staff in this process. As part of this, special training will be imparted on the role, responsibilities and duties of Village, Ward Volunteers, Welfare / Education Assistant‌ / Ward Welfare Development Secretary, Engineering / Assistant / Ward Facility (Amenities) Secretaries. They will be entrusted with the key responsibilities of registering the beneficiary details as well as indent, material supply, M book recording, payments and recommendation.

The Department of Housing has made necessary arrangements to impart special training to the staff of the Housing and Secretariat on the 18th and 19th of this month at KL‌ University, Vijayawada to create awareness on house building. Aloga has directed the staff at the divisional level to conduct an orientation program on the 9th of this month. The District Collectors have been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating these and ensuring that one hundred per cent of the staff attend the training program.

The Department of Housing has taken steps to make the details of the beneficiaries known with the QR code. It contains details of the beneficiary's house title, lay out name, village survey number and allotted plot number. Once the QR code is scanned, the sanctioned scheme, house value, housing ID number, job card number, along with the beneficiary's bank account and how much the bill has been paid.

The payment details along with the material sanctioned step by step for the construction of the house are recorded in the pass book given to the beneficiary. Bills are paid at basement level, roof level, slab level and finishing level. Details of cash paid under the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for 90 working days are also included. Relevant staff are also taking steps to keep their phone numbers in the pass book so that the beneficiaries can solve any problem immediately.
