Apple has just rolled out a brand-new Apple Sports app, offering sports enthusiasts instant access to real-time scores, stats, and odds right from their phone's lock screen. The app is free, ad-free for now, and is initially launched for iPhone users in the US, UK, and Canada.

With the new Sports app, Apple users can stay updated on various leagues including MLS, NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Premier League, and Serie A. Apple promises to add more leagues in the upcoming seasons like MLF, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL, and WNBA.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, explained the motive behind the app, stating, "We created Apple Sports to provide sports fans with what they want — an app that offers lightning-fast access to scores and stats." The app is available for free on the App Store, ensuring users can effortlessly keep track of their favorite teams and leagues.

While users have been able to access real-time scores through various means, Apple asserts that its new method is the easiest and fastest way to stay updated with beloved teams and leagues.

The Apple Sports app also facilitates direct streaming of favorite leagues, redirecting users to Apple TV Plus or their preferred streaming service for live game viewing.

Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed his enthusiasm for the app via a post, saying, "The new Apple Sports iPhone app simplifies following your favorite teams and leagues. I can't wait to utilize it during the 2024 @MLS Season, which kicks off tonight between Inter Miami CF and Real Salt Lake on #MLSSeasonPass!"
