New Delhi: Apple Music Classical, a streaming app for classical music, is now available to download for iPhone users. Over five million tracks can be found on the app, with a heavy emphasis on western classical music.

Filters can be used by users to find their favorite audio files. Although the app is free, an active Apple Music subscription is required.

In an effort to increase the diversity of classical music available, Apple launched its own classical music streaming app, bringing the genre much-needed attention to its Apple Music streaming strategy.

After being made available for pre-order earlier this month, the app is now available for download. With its unique approach, Apple Music Classical is a stand-alone app that targets classical music listeners.

Apple bought Amsterdam-based Primaphonic, a classical music streaming service, in August 2021. The result of this acquisition is the new Apple Music Classical app.

The app gives users access to over five million high-quality classical music tracks, including brand-new albums, carefully curated playlists, musician biographies, exclusive albums, and in-depth editorial analysis of some of the most important pieces.

The Apple Music Classical app offers a variety of compositions based on Western classical music. If you look a little closer, you will also find some Hindustani classical and Carnatic titles.

The app gives you a variety of filters to choose from when browsing through tracks. Additionally, it enables users to add audio files to their libraries or playlists, but songs cannot be downloaded.

Compositions with audio quality up to 192kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless are available in the Apple Music Classical app. Through the use of compatible Apple speakers or headphones, users can also enjoy spatial audio, which supports Dolby Atmos for thousands of tracks.

The only Apple Audio wearables that support spatial audio technology right now are the Beats Fit Pro, the AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation), the AirPods Max, and the AirPods 3rd generation.

Currently, Apple Music Classical provides a simple user interface for listening to classical music. By work, composer, conductor, or even catalog number, users can find recordings.

New music is reportedly added to the service over time. To provide a wider variety of content, Apple is collaborating with more classical music organizations and artists.

Apple Music subscription includes shipping of Apple Music Classical. So, the Classical Music app is free to use if you have an Apple Music subscription.

Initially, devices running iOS 15.4 or later are the only ones that can access Apple Music Classical. But it is also being speculated that Android users will get it soon.
