Apple’s WWDC 2024 has brought a wave of excitement with its latest updates for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. While much of the buzz centered around the Vision Pro, several other features stole the spotlight. Here are five new things you can do with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 that were not possible before.

1. iPadOS Gets a Calculator App
One of the most talked-about updates is the addition of a native Calculator app for iPad users. This long-awaited feature includes a resizable window, a handy sidebar for recent calculations, and Math Notes integration. With Math Notes, you can write equations using the Apple Pencil, and the app will solve them as soon as you add an equals sign. This feature also allows for real-time adjustments to equations and easy conversion to charts, significantly boosting productivity.

2. Voice Isolation for AirPods Pro 2
AirPods Pro 2 now come with Voice Isolation technology. This feature uses the advanced noise cancellation capabilities of the Apple H2 chip to minimize wind noise and background sounds during calls, ensuring clear and uninterrupted communication.

3. Customizable Home Screen and Control Center
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 introduce new customization options for the Home Screen and Control Center, similar to Android’s quick toggles. Users can now integrate third-party apps into the Control Center, and the redesigned Control Center allows for swipeable navigation and icon resizing, offering a more personalized user experience.

4. Enhanced Photos App
The Photos app has received significant upgrades across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. The new Clean Up feature lets users remove unwanted elements from their photos with precision, matching the capabilities of some of the best photo editing tools available. Additionally, improved search functionalities make it easier to find and organize photos, catering to both professional photographers and casual users.

5. Custom Emojis with Generative AI
One of the most exciting new features in iOS 18 is the introduction of custom emojis created by generative AI. While there are some concerns about the potential overuse of these new emojis, they offer a fresh and creative way to enhance digital communication.
