Famous dancer and actress Aarti Das has passed away. The actress was 76 years old. Aarti Das was a Bengali actress known as Miss Shefali. According to the information received from the family, Aarti Das died on Thursday due to cardiac attack in her house at North 24 Parganas in West Bengal. Her niece, Alvin Shefali, said that on Thursday," Aarti Das suddenly had pain in her chest and she started getting restless. After which she was taken to the doctor for treatment where the doctor told that she has died due to cardiac arrest. Apart from this, Aarti Das was suffering due to kidney disease for some time."

Aarti Das was a very popular dancer and actress of the 60s and 70s. She has worked in films like 'Pratyogi' and 'Seemandit' with cinema veteran Satyajit Ray. She was also famous in the film industry as Queen of Cabaret. Aarti Das started her career with the film 'Chowrangi'. This film came out in the year 1968. After this film, Aarti Das won the hearts of millions with her dance and acting. Apart from films, she was also a big name in theater. She has also done many great plays like 'Samrat O Sundari', 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam'.

Aarti Das's biography was also released in the year 2015. Her biography is named 'Sandhya Retar Shefali'. On Aarti Das' demise, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed grief on social media. She wrote on Twitter, "Saddened at the passing away of actress Arati Das, famous under her screen name, Miss Shefali. She appeared in two of Satyajit Ray’s films, Pratidwandi and Seemabaddha. Condolences to her family and her admirers".
