New Delhi: India on Thursday rejected a statement made by the Islamic Cooperation Organisation (OIC) on Jammu and Kashmir, asking it to refrain from allowing it to take advantage of its platform for comments on the country's internal affairs. The strong remarks by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) came in response to a statement issued by the Secretary-General of the OIC on the second anniversary of the withdrawal of Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

"We categorically reject another unacceptable reference to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir issued by the Secretary-General of the OIC," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said. Arindam Bagchi was replying to media queries on OIC's statement. Spokesperson Arandim Bagchi said, "OIC has no right in matters relating to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, an integral part of India. We say again that the OIC secretary-general should avoid allowing the secretary-general to take advantage of his platform for comments on internal affairs.''

On August 5, 2019, the Government of India took a major decision to remove Section 370 of the Constitution, withdrawing special statehood from Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh were divided into two different Union Territories. Yesterday, on Thursday, the decision referred has completed two years.
