Army Chief Bipin Rawat: Illegal migrants should be deported

New Delhi: Army chief General Bipin Rawat has stated that prohibited migrants who have entered the nation illegally over the course of time should be extradited. He was speaking in an exclusive interview with Times Now's Editor-in-Chief Rahul Shivshankar. The Army chief also said that he supports National Register of Citizens. He added that parties who were protesting against it were disheartenment national security.

“People who are residing in India illegally should absolutely be deported. If they are legal, they need to be amalgamated. But then that amalgamation must happen in a way that it should be beneficial for everybody,” he was quoted by Times now.

Rawat also alleged certain political parties of helping the illegal stay in the nation. He added that few organizations’ are assisting to put together them into the system.

“There are others who have come in illegally and do not have citizenship, but there are some people who are trying to secure citizenship,” he stated to Times now.

Worth mention here in February speaking at a seminar on ‘North East Region of India — Bridging Gaps and Securing Borders’, held by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies and Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff of the Ministry of Defence, General Rawat asked the unparalleled rise of All India United Democratic Front established by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal in 2005 and stated that the party has ‘grown in a faster time-frame than the BJP has developed over the years.’
