Srinagar, July 03: This week, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is scheduled to visit Jammu to evaluate the security situation and address operational challenges with senior Army officials, as per media reports.

Reports indicate that General Dwivedi's visit to Jammu is expected on Wednesday, marking his first official visit to an operational area since assuming his new role.

According to Defence sources, General Dwivedi, who previously served as the Northern Army Commander, is expected to travel to the Army’s 16 Corps headquarters in Nagrota on Wednesday. He also plans to visit the Rajouri and Poonch areas thereafter.

"The Chief of Army Staff visited the Brigade headquarters in Poonch, where he discussed the current situation on the Line of Control (LoC) and within the region with field commanders. The focus was on ongoing anti-militancy operations in Poonch and Rajouri districts, particularly in light of recent terror incidents in these areas," officials stated.

During his visit, he will likely review the overall strategy for Jammu and Kashmir, addressing new challenges such as narco-terrorism and ensuring infiltration from across the LoC remains under control, sources added.
