Army Chief lauds, "Imposition of Governor's Rule in J-K won't affect operations"

New Delhi [India], Jun 20 (NT): Following the break up between PDP and BJP, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday stated that the imposition of Governor's Rule in Jammu and Kashmir will not interrupt the operations against terrorists.

General Rawat's reply came after President Ram Nath Kovind gave his consent to impose of Governor's Rule in the state with immediate effect earlier in the day.

In his address to media, He told that Indian army only stopped its operations during Ramzan. But, everybody noticed what happened. He added that the imposing of Governor's Rule will not affect military operations.

“Our operations will go on like they used to. We don't face any political interference,” He was quoted by AN as saying.

Worth mention here after receiving President Kovind's consent, state Governor N.N. Vohra on Wednesday issued the public statement to impose Governor's Rule under section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Governor's Rule was called after Mehbooba Mufti resigned as Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister, following the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) pull out from its collation with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on Tuesday. (NT)
