New Delhi: On the occasion of the 73rd Army Day, Indian Army Chief MM Naravane lauded the braves for their "supreme sacrifice" while doing duty on Friday. Terming the year 2020 as full of challenges and opportunities, the army chief said that the Indian Army was determined to protect the security and territorial integrity of the country.

On the ongoing tension between India and China on the actual borderline (LAC), the army chief said, "Our brave officers and Jawans gave a befitting reply to the enemies. Praising the army's quick action amid tensions over LAC, the army chief said, "with the responsibility of resolving the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy, the Indian Army responded quickly and decisively to every attempt to change the situation. The army chief, Narwane, also mentioned the continued campaigns against terrorism amid the Corona epidemic.

The Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15th January every year. On January 15, 1949, Field Marshal M. Cariappa became the first army chief of independent India. There were about 2 lakh soldiers in the army at that moment. Army Day was celebrated on 15th January every year since km Cariappa was made army chief.
