The Liverpool English Premier League trophy has already been named but its dream of winning Manchester City's record of scoring the most points in a season was shattered after being defeated 2–1 at the hands of Arsenal here on Wednesday. Liverpool had confirmed the trophy in its name for the first time in 30 years, after which their eyes were set on reaching or surpassing Manchester City's 100 points mark, but that has not happened. Sadio Mane scored a goal in the 20th minute to give Liverpool the lead, but Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette scored in the 32nd minute, 12 minutes after Reece Nelson scored a second goal which proved successful.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said, 'We are all human. I cannot remove any negative things from such positive things. Our players have shown outstanding performance this season and no one can snatch this success from them. Liverpool has managed to score just one point in their last two matches and was also held 1-1 by Burnley.'

This defeat at the hands of Arsenal is only its third defeat this season, now he has got 93 points, and even after winning the remaining two matches, he will only reach 99 points. Meanwhile, Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 2–1 thanks to goals from David Silva (sixth) and Gabriel Jesus (39th minute).
