Anand Bakshi is a well-known name in the Indian film industry. He served as a cadet in the Royal Indian Navy. But the urge to become a songwriter pulled him to Bombay. He first got the opportunity to write the song in Bhagwan Dada's film Bhala Man in 1958.
However, he was recognized as a lyricist by the 1962 film Mehendi Lagi Meri Haath. After this, he wrote all the songs in the 1965 film Jab Jab Phool Khile, which remained a superhit. The song 'Chand Si Mehbooba Ho Meri' in film Himalaya Ki God main, another film that same year, was very much liked at that time. He became a successful lyricist after the song 'Sawan Ka Mahon Pawan Kare Shor' from the 1967 Milan.
He also wrote the lyrics for the 1969 film Aradhana. Its 'Mere Sapne Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu' is credited with the success of singer Kishore Kumar, actor Rajesh Khanna and music composer RD Burman. Later, many superhit songs were produced by this group. After this, he actively wrote songs until he left the body in 2002. In his career above 40 years, he wrote more than 4 thousand songs for about 600 films. Anand Bakshi was nominated 40 times for Best Lyricist at the Filmfare Awards, in which he was declared 4 times winner.
