New Delhi: Today, the daughters of the country are celebrating their talent in almost every field, but there was a time when people used to kill their daughters in the womb. Even if the daughters were born, they were pushed into the fire of child marriage. The Government of India had been making efforts since the independence of the country against discrimination between daughters and sons, atrocities against them. Several schemes and laws were enacted to bring the daughters to the first position in the country. It was for this purpose that National Girl Child Day was celebrated.
National Girl Child Day is celebrated on 24th January every year. The celebration of this day started in 2009. The Ministry of Women's Child Development celebrated National Girl Child Day in the country for the first time on 24th January 2009. There is a special reason to celebrate 24th January as Girl Child Day every year. This reason is related to Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was sworn in as the country's first woman PM in 1966. January 24 is an important day in India's history and empowerment of women.
Because of celebrating this day, the girls of the country have to be made aware of their rights. The discrimination against girls in the society has to be made aware of the daughters of the country as well as all the people. On this day, every year, the State Governments organize awareness programmes in their respective States.
