NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed grief over the death of renowned industrialist Rahul Bajaj on Saturday, adding that the Rahul Bajaj made a "significant contribution" to the country's prosperity.

He took to Twitter to say: "The death of the country's famed industrialist Rahul Bajaj ji came as a shock. He made a significant contribution to the country's economic development." Bajaj, the founder of the Bajaj Group, died in Pune at the age of 83 after a prolonged fight with cancer.

Kejriwal recalled a three-decade-old Bajaj scooter commercial with the tagline "Buland Bharat ki Buland Tasveer," saying it had become a part of every family. "My heartfelt homage to such a remarkable personality. May the Lord receive the soul of the departed at his feet "he said,

Rahul Bajaj, who was born in Kolkata in 1938, died around 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. 

He took command of the Bajaj Group in 1965, and under his leadership, the company grew to become one of the largest in the subcontinent.
