New Delhi: Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal is now all set to do something similar in Uttarakhand after chanting free electricity ragas in Punjab. In fact, CM Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Uttarakhand on Sunday. Meanwhile, he is also gearing up to corner the BJP government in the state on the issue of free electricity.
Speculations are rife whether Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will announce free power in Punjab and now Uttarakhand as per the Delhi model. In fact, before his visit to Uttarakhand, Kejriwal said Uttarakhand itself produces electricity and sells it to other states. Then, why such expensive electricity to the people of Uttarakhand? Delhi does not make its own electricity, buys from other states. Yet electricity in Delhi is free. Shouldn't the people of Uttarakhand get free electricity?
Kejriwal is said to reach Uttarakhand at 11 am. He can hold a press conference in Dehradun in the afternoon. In the meantime, the state government will be cornered on the issue of electricity. Kejriwal's siege of state governments on the power issue is not new. CM Kejriwal has earlier raised the issue in Punjab as well. The Aam Aadmi Party, which is trying to prepare its political ground in other states outside Delhi, has stepped up its political activism in the states heading for elections.
