Dehradun: Everyone wants to know whether the popular Kanwad yatra caused by corona infection will be cancelled as last time or Uttarakhand will allow the yatra with precautionary measures this time. Uttarakhand's new Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given important news in media interaction about the visit. He said that Kanwad Yatra is not only in Uttarakhand, it is also related to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. A final decision will be taken only after discussions with these States.

CM Dhami, in a meeting with Chief Secretary SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar and other higher officials held extensive discussions with the neighbouring states late last evening and directed them to take appropriate decisions in view of all aspects.

In the recent inter-state coordination meeting of police officers, it was also opined that the Kanwar Yatra should be cancelled for the time being in view of the crisis of the possible third wave of the virus. It was also suggested in the meeting that if the yatra is cancelled, the neighbouring states can carry Ganga water to tankers with the approval of the State Police. Every year, as soon as the month of Shravan arrives in July, the Kanwar Yatra begins, which lasts till the beginning of August, and due to this fortnight, lakhs of Shiva devotees from other states including UP, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh came to Haridwar to collect Ganga water.
