Counting agents in Nagpur have raised objections about the postal ballots counting. They are demanding that counting be stopped. They are creating a ruckus.

Meanwhile, BJP candidate Smriti Irani from Amethi constituency is in lead with 2000 votes. Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, who is contesting from Bhopal constituency, is leading with 3000 votes from Madhya Pradesh. Notably, Pragya had kicked up a storm for giving a statement in favor of Nathuram Godse. Congress president Rahul Gandhi is reportedly leading from Amethi Lok Sabha seat. This time, Gandhi contested from Kerala's Wayanad parliamentary constituency too.

Interestingly, BJP-led NDA is leading in Churu. Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, who is contesting from Gandhi Nagar is in lead with 25000 votes.

SP leader Akhilesh Yadav is in lead from Azamgarh.

According to the EC, 67.11 percent of voters cast their votes. This was the highest turnout in the Lok Sabha polls since independence.
Voting took place at 10.35 lakh polling stations across 36 states and Union Territories.

Notably, it is for the first time that slips of five VVPATs will be matched with the EVMs in the Lok Sabha Elections. Due to tallying of voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips with EVM count for the first time, the results are expected only by late evening.
