Ex-India pacer Ashish Nehra, who turns 44 today, April 29 (born on April 29, 1979), is currently the head coach of the debutant IPL team Gujarat Titans in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league.

Ashish Nehra, the left-arm pacer had to wait for his ODI debut until 2001 when he made the playing XI against Zimbabwe at Harare. He played 120 matches claiming 157 wickets. He also played for India in the T20 format playing 27 matches since his debut in 2009 (against Sri Lanka at Nagpur), pocketing 34 wickets. The high point in the Delhi pacer’s career came during the 2003 World Cup against England, where he scalped 6 for 23.

Ashish Nehra is also fondly called as 'Nehraji' by teammates and fans. Nehra struggled with injuries and fitness issues throughout his career. During an interview, Nehra himself revealed that he underwent surgery 12 times in his 18-year career. 
Nehra made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 1999, while he made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2001. After playing the last T20 match against New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on 1 November 2017, Ashish Nehra retired from international cricket. After retiring from cricket, Ashish Nehra is commentating these days and he is also the bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

His brother's name is Bhanu Nehra. He is married to Rushma Nehra and has two children. Daughter Ariana and son Aarusha. Nehra started playing first-class cricket for his hometown Nehra Nagar, Delhi in the 1997/98 season. Nehra learned cricket under the direction of Tariq Sinha. Nehra made his Test debut in 1999 against Sri Lanka in Colombo while in 2001 he made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Harare. In his Test debut match, Nehra took the only wicket of Mervan Attapattu. He took a career-best performance against England in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, taking 6 wickets for 23 runs.

Former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra has played 17 Test matches for India. In which he has taken 44 wickets. During this time he has scored 80 runs. He has taken 157 wickets in 120 ODIs. In which his best bowling is 6 wickets for 23 runs. During this time, he has also scored 141 runs. Nehra has also played 27 T20 Internationals for India. In which he has taken 34 wickets. In ODI cricket, Nehra has taken 5 wickets twice in an innings.
