Jaipur: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot is likely to take a major decision on petrol and diesel prices today (Tuesday). CM Gehlot has convened a cabinet meeting at 6 pm and his council of ministers at 6.45 pm on November 16. Citizens of Rajasthan has high hopes for this meeting. In this meeting, the government will consider reducing the prices of petrol and diesel. At the same time, the meeting is likely to discuss cabinet expansion.

It is being reported that on the lines of the Central Government, like other states, the Rajasthan government will reduce the tax on petrol and diesel and provide relief to the people. Rajasthan has the highest VAT in the country, 26 per cent of VAT is being levied on diesel and 36 per cent on petrol in the state. Recently, the State Congress unit in Jaipur took out a foot march launching a Janjagran Abhiyan against price rise on Sunday. Meanwhile, CM Ashok Gehlot said that discussions will be held in the meeting and we will accept whatever is possible.

CM Gehlot has also raised a demand before PM Narendra Modi to reduce additional excise, special excise and sense. He had also written a letter to PM Modi on the same. CM Gehlot says that if the central government reduces excise, the prices of petrol and diesel in the state will automatically come down. The Central Government had announced on November 3 that it had reduced excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10.
