Ashok Kumar, who has appeared in many films in Bollywood. He was born on the 13th of October.  He was India's first superstar and loved watching movies since childhood. It is said that he never wanted to become an actor but perhaps it was written in his fate. His father Kunjlal Ganguly was a lawyer and mother Gauri Devi was from a wealthy Bengali family. Ashok lived in Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. His father was among the rich people in Khandwa and after that, his family settled in Khandwa. Ashok's younger sister's husband Sashadhar Mukherjee was a sound engineer in Himanshu Rai's company Bombay Talkies and was involved with other production departments.

He was the one who took Ashok Kumar to Rai. Rai then asked Ashok to become an actor but Ashok did not want that. He preferred to work in the technical department and that is why Rai hired him. It is said that Ashoka later started assisting in the direction as well and he used to explain his scenes to all the actors. One day, Ashok Kumar got work in the film 'Jeevan Naiya' (1936). It is said that during the shooting of 'Jeevan Naiya', Himanshu Rai's wife i.e. the film's heroine Devika Rani ran away with the hero Najmul Hasan. Rai then asked Ashok Kumar to become a hero and Ashok agreed to work in the film.

Ashok's first film was a superhit and after that Ashok became famous. His father was very upset with Ashok becoming an actor because he wanted to see him working. One day when father met Ashok, he asked Ashok to quit acting. Ashok then went to Himanshu Rai and showed him the job papers and said that his father is standing outside and wants to talk to him. On this Himanshi Rai spoke to his father in private and shortly after that his father came to him and tore the papers of the job.

He is said to have told Ashoka after that, "He (Himanshu Rai) says that if you do the same thing, you will reach a very high point. So I think you should not stop here." However, after all this, Ashok gave many superhit films and played all kinds of characters. He is not in this world today but still lives in millions of hearts.
