New Delhi: India has etched its name in the records of Asian Games history with an astounding performance, securing an incredible 100 medals at the Asian Games 2023. The nation had previously amassed 92 medals at this prestigious continental event, but an additional 9 medals are now confirmed, with only the gold, silver, or bronze distinctions left to be determined. The latest achievements include ace wrestler Sonam Malik's bronze medal in the women's freestyle 62 kg category, followed by Kiran Bishnoi's bronze in women's 76 kg freestyle wrestling. Shortly thereafter, the Indian men's team added another silver in Bridge, marking the seventh medal of the day.

India had already exceeded their previous best medal haul of 70 by securing an impressive 12 medals on Day 11. Achieving the motto of 'Ab ki baar, 100 paar' (This time, beyond 100) will undoubtedly cap off an extraordinary campaign for the Indian contingent.

Standout performances from athletes like Neeraj Chopra (men's javelin), Annu Rani (women's javelin), Tajinderpal Singh Toor (men's shot put), Avinash Sable (men's 3000m steeplechase), Parul Chaudhary (women's 5000m), and the quartet of Muhammad Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh (men's 4x400m relay) contributed to this impressive gold medal tally.

Meanwhile, Indian shooters achieved their best-ever showing at the Asian Games, amassing 22 medals – seven gold, nine silver, and six bronze. Surprise victories in disciplines such as equestrian, sailing, and rowing also played a pivotal role in India's journey to the century mark.
