Assam BJP government gets Rs 122.61 crore, Know its reason

Guwahati: The state-owned Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Assam paid the first interim dividend of around Rs 122.61 crore to the state government for the current financial year. According to the official statement, NRL managing director S.K. Barua handed over dividend check to CM Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and other high officials. Assam's equity holding in the company is 12.35%.

According to the statement, the dividend was for the second quarter of the financial year up to September. The final dividend will be decided at the annual general meeting of the NRL after the current fiscal year ending on 31 March. NRL is undertaking a Rs 949 crore plan to augment its capacity and is laying a 2,200 km pipeline of crude oil from Paradip Port in Odisha to Numaligarh and a product pipeline from Numaligarh to Siliguri in West Bengal.

A senior NRL official said that the company will invest Rs 949 crore in the current financial year for its capital projects, including laying of crude oil pipelines, including the existing 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA refinery expansion project.
