Lakhimpur: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal narrowly avoided being a victim of a helicopter crash. His helicopter had to make an emergency landing at Lilabari Airport due to a technical glitch. Sonowal was going to Lakhimpur from Guwahati by helicopter.

He narrowly escaped when the pilot faced difficulties passing over the hills due to thick clouds along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The pilot tried to raise the helicopter three times in an attempt to get over the hills, but could not succeed. The pilot then made a safe landing of the helicopter at Lilabari Airport.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Chief Media Advisor Rishikesh Goswami and Superintendent of Police Montu Thakuria in the helicopter.
