Guwahati: The last 2 days have been very difficult for the people of Assam. Continuous tremors have been felt in Assam since the 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday. After which the nights of the people of Assam are passing in panic. The area around Tezpur, the headquarters of the Sonitpur district, is the center of tremors of these earthquakes. Tezpur was rocked by tremors at 7.51 am on Wednesday.

An official said tremors have been felt 21 times in the region since then. The highest magnitude earthquake since the 6.4 magnitude earthquake has been of magnitude 4.6 which occurred at 1.20 am. After that, a large number of people were forced to leave their homes and flee to a safe place. However, no major accidents have been reported from these vibrations. According to Assam state disaster management, 12 people have been injured since the first earthquake. Although two have also died, it was not due to an earthquake but because of a heart attack.

The damage caused by the earthquake has just been assessed in 18 districts. According to information received, 428 houses and 148 public-private institutions such as schools, Anganwadi buildings have been affected. At the same time, an embankment in the Baska district has also been damaged, two bridges in Nagaon have been damaged. The infrastructure of Assam Power Distribution Company Limited in Sonitpur has been damaged in Sonitpur, Udalguri, and Hozai districts.
