Assam's New Law Will Ask Couples To Declare Religion And Income Amid 'Love Jihad'

Guwahati: The Sarbananda Sonowal government of Assam is preparing to enact a law under which the couple will have to give information about their religion and income before one month of marriage. Many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states are churning this time to bring a law against 'Love Jihad'.

The law against forcible conversion in Uttar Pradesh has also got the nod from Governor Anandi Ben Patel. After this, Sarbananda Sonowal government of Assam says that they are going to bring such a law to strengthen women. Next year assembly elections are going to be held in Assam. The BJP is confident that it will win the state. Minister of Assam Government Hemant Biswa Sharma said that this law will not be exactly like the law of Madhya Pradesh and UP, but there will be something similar.

Minister of Assam Government Hemant Biswa Sharma also said that this law of Assam will not be against 'Love Jihad' but for all kinds of religions. He claims that this will give strength to women. People have to give information about religion and income before marriage.
