GUWAHATI: In a major operation against drug peddling, the Assam Police has successfully seized narcotics worth a staggering Rs 25 crore in the international market. This commendable achievement comes on the heels of the arrest of five individuals involved in this illicit trade. The Assam Police officials, who carried out the operation, provided detailed insights into the significant seizure and the subsequent arrests.
Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Karimganj Police swiftly mobilized a team to intercept the transportation of a substantial consignment of drugs through the Karimganj district. The police were determined to put an end to the illegal drug trade that poses a grave threat to society.
The dedicated team from Karimganj Police intercepted two vehicles originating from Mizoram in the Bazarichera area. The diligent efforts of the police led to the recovery of approximately 3.2 kg of narcotic substances, which were skillfully concealed within 250 soap boxes.
As a result of this operation, the Assam Police apprehended five individuals involved in drug peddling. The arrested individuals have been identified as Talab Hussain, Tahir Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, Nitai Sarkar, and Nitu Sarka. Talab Hussain, Tahir Ahmed, and Khalid Hussain are residents of Patharkandi in Assam, while Nitai Sarkar and Nitu Sarka hail from Tripura.
