Assam Rifles have recovered and seized heroin worth over Rs 40 lakh in Champhai district, Mizoram. In this operation, the Assam Rifles troopers recovered heroine weighing 101.3 grams.

The troopers of Serchhip Battalion of the Assam Rifles in Zokhawthar area of Champhai district apprehended one person.  The apprehended person and heroin, were later handed over to the excise and Narcotics Department, Zokhawthar. Sharing information Assam Rifles said, “The operation was carried out by Assam Rifles where its surveillance team noticed the movement of a suspected individual in General Area Zokhawthar. The individual was intercepted, checked on the spot and 8 hongs of heroin No 4 in eight soap cases was found in his possession.

Earlier, last month, The Assam Rifles and the Mizoram state police in a joint operation have seized 90 gm of heroin and arrested one person in Champhai district.
