Dispur: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has once again made a statement on behalf of his government on measures towards population control. Recently, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has said, "Population policy has started, you can consider it as an announcement. We will gradually incorporate a two-child policy to avail government benefits". He also said, "We will gradually include a two-child policy to take government advantage, you can consider it an announcement".

In fact, the Chief Minister of Assam says, "Whether it is debt waiver or other government schemes, population norms will be taken into account. This will not be applicable to tea garden workers/SC-ST community. In future, population norms will be taken into account as eligibility for Government benefits. The population policy has started. Let me tell you all that on 10th June, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma requested the minority community to adopt a proper family planning policy for population control to reduce poverty". On the occasion of the completion of 30 days of his government, the Chief Minister had said, "All parties should come forward and support the Government to help reduce poverty in the community. Poverty is due to uncontrolled growth in population".

The CM had also said, "The government is the patron of all poor people, but it needs the cooperation of the minority community to deal with the issue of population growth. Population growth is the main reason for poverty, illiteracy and lack of proper family planning. His Government will work towards educating women belonging to minority communities so that this problem can be tackled effectively". He also said, "The government cannot allow encroachment of temples, sessions and forest land and community members have also assured the government that they do not want encroachment of these land".
