Assam to reopen the schools on November 2 after more than seven months closure due to Corona Pandemic. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday instructed the education department to take utmost care and strictly observe COVID-19 protocols in the schools. From November 2, Students from Class 6 and above will begin their offline Classroom studies. To attract the attendance, CM has instructed to use audio-visual tools and other attractive methods such as storytelling in the first month.

In a meeting with the officials of education and health departments on reopening of schools, Sonowal stressed early start of schools, adequate gap between the classroom timings of two groups of students and neat, clean sanitation of toilets. CM has said, "Among many negatives, the pandemic has brought some positives, it can inspire students and making the people aware of the importance of cleanliness and hygiene is one of them. The education department must take this opportunity to spread the message of cleanliness in the society through the students".

No idea of Opening Schools now, Says Kejriwal

The chief minister also directed the education department to provide smartphones to the students of economically underprivileged sections for attending online classes. He advises to honour COVID warriors and plasma donors to inspire students to work for the society. Providing iron and folic acid tablets to students for boosting their immunity, conducting yoga classes and regular health screenings of pupils are instructed to the department. Class 6,7,9,12 have classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and class 8,10,11 will have class on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. College students in odd semester 1, 3, 5 will have classes for two, three and four days respectively every week. Classes will start in two phases and each phase can have a maximum of 25 students.
