Guwahati: Former Assam CM Prafulla Kumar Mahant has been admitted to the private hospital Down Town in Guwahati. According to information, Prafulla Kumar Mahant has been admitted to a private hospital on Friday evening in a critical condition.
Prafulla Kumar Mahant has been admitted to the hospital after suffering from blood pressure. This was stated by a senior leader of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Saturday. In this regard, the leader of the Asom Gana Parishad has said that 67-year-old Mahanta was admitted to a private hospital late Friday, from where he has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of another hospital.
The party leader quoted Mahanta's son as saying that the former CM's condition is stable and there is nothing to worry about. After receiving wide support for the Assam movement, AGP had contested the assembly elections in 1985 and won power by defeating the Congress, after which Mahanta became the CM of the state for the first time. In Assam, the corona is rapidly increasing. After 3,054 new cases of Covid-19 were reported, infection cases rose to 1,18,333 in the state on Friday.
