Today is the birthday of Ustad Zakir Hussain, the magician who created the world of magic with the beat of his fingers on the tabla. Zakir Hussain was born on March 09, 1951. He had inherited the magic of tabla, his father Alla Rakha Khan is also a famous tabla player. 

Born in Mumbai, Zakir studied at St Xavier's College and had his first concert in the US at the age of 11. After this, Hussain started establishing himself in the field of art and his first album was also launched in the year 1973. The album, titled Living in the Material World, garnered a lot of applause. After which Zakir Hussain started becoming a different name from the image of his father.

Due to this speciality, he also won the Grammy Award, the biggest honour in the world of music, not once, but twice. However, despite so much popularity and recognition, Zakir Hussain has never called himself the best tabla player, but often in many interviews, said that many of his colleagues were playing the tabla as much as him or even better.

One of such kisses is associated with their childhood. He says that at the age of 12, he had come to a concert with his father. There were many legends of the world of music present. Among them were Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Bismillah Khan and Pandit Shanta Prasad and Pandit Kishan Maharaj. Everyone was on stage when one of the coordinators also called Ustad Zakir Hussain on stage because he was the son of Allah Rakha Khan. Ustad Zakir Hussain received Rs 5 when the performance on stage ended. Narrating this story, Zakir Hussain said that it was one of the most precious gifts for him.
