Actually, Shah Rukh has been given this honour for his efforts for humanity in front of thousands of fans. Shah Rukh was there to attend the 10th Melbourne Indian Film Festival as the Chief Guest. King Khan says, "After receiving this honour from a prestigious university like La Trobe, I feel very proud of myself. The university has a long relationship with Indian culture and has raised its voice for equal rights for women," he said.

For your information, La Trobe is Australia's first university to have awarded Shah Rukh Khan an honorary doctor of letters.
