Skoda is introducing a new compact SUV in the Indian market. This SUV, named Skoda Karoq, will be launched in April next year. This is confirmed by Jack Hallis, Sales, Service and Marketing Director of Skoda Auto India. Initially, this SUV will be available only in petrol engines. In India, it will be introduced as a CBU unit (fully built).

It is worth noting that no information has been given about the engine specifications of Skoda Carrack, but made it clear that in the beginning, it will have only a petrol engine. This SUV can be launched with a 1-liter engine generating 113 bhp and 175 Nm peak torque or a 1.5-liter engine generating 148 bhp power and 250 Nm peak torque. This SUV is already available with both these engines in the international market. It is believed that the company may add a BS6 diesel engine later on the basis of market feedback.

In addition, Skoda Carrack will compete with premium end vehicles in the compact SUV segment in the Indian market, including SUVs like MG Hector, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Like most of Skoda's models, the look of this new SUV is muscular and aggressive. The Carac SUV will feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Apart from this, it will get leather upholstery on seats with dual-zone climate control. The SUV will have two color options (black and beige-black) for the cabin.
