Facebook India has appointed Avinash Pant as the marketing head, apart from this, in India, Avinash may be responsible for the Facebook mobile app, Instagram and WhatsApp. The same Avinash Pant will report to Ajit Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director of Facebook India. Apart from this, Facebook has said that Pant has 20 years of experience. Pant has previously served in companies such as Nike, Coca-Cola, The Walt Disney and RedBull. Before joining Facebook, he was the marketing director at RedBull India, an energy drink company.

In the last few months, Facebook has made many changes from marketing to sales and policy department. Pant's appointment is also part of the same change. Last year, Facebook has launched several schemes in India, including programs like Boost with Facebook and VC Brand Incubator. Along with Pant's appointment, Facebook has announced a partnership with the Government of India Common Service Center (CSC). Under this scheme, 25 thousand women and three thousand villages of the country can be given digital training. Facebook has also partnered with the International Cricket Council (ICC) for content.

Significantly, Facebook recently apologized for the incorrect translation of the Chinese President's name. In fact, Chinese President Xi Jinping was on a visit to Myanmar and it was during this time that his name was mistranslated from Burmese to English on Facebook. Xi Jinping's name was mistranslated on Facebook - Xi Zipping on Myanmar's Facebook page Due to the incorrect translation of the name of KK, a situation of controversy was created. Due to the wrong translation, the name of the Chinese President was written on Facebook as 'Mr. Shithole'. The post further wrote that 'President of China Mr. Shithole has signed a guest document of the House of Representatives'.
