New Delhi: The country's President Ramnath Kovind on Wednesday said that elected representatives should have a healthy dialogue in Parliament and legislatures and avoid the use of unparliamentary language during a discussion in the House. Speaking at the inaugural session of the 80th All India Presiding Officers' Conference in Tent City, near the 'Statue of Unity' in Kevadia village under Narmada district of Gujarat, His Excellency Kovind said that the use and indiscipline of unparliamentary language in the House by elected representatives hurt the sentiments of the people who elect them.

President Kovind said, "The elected representatives are expected to remain committed to democratic values. The biggest challenge is for elected representatives and democratic institutions to live up to the expectations of the people." He further said, "I believe that the people of the country expect their elected representatives to fully follow the parliamentary beliefs."

President Kovind further said that the sentiments of the people are hurt when his elected representatives use unparliamentary language or are seen to be indiscipline in Parliament or Assembly. So President advised the delegates to avoid such things.
