Ayodhya, the city preparing for the upcoming consecration ceremony at the Ram temple next month, is now embellished with majestic sun-themed pillars lining one of its main roads. These striking 'Surya Stambhs' are being installed to mark the anticipation and grandeur of the approaching event. Standing tall at 30 feet, each pillar boasts an exquisite orb that, when illuminated at night, mirrors the radiant Sun.

As part of this initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department's Ayodhya Division plans to place a total of 40 such pillars along the Dharam Path. This road links the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk near Naya Ghat with the Ayodhya Bypass.

"We're currently in the process of setting up these 'Surya Stambhs' ahead of the consecration of Lord Ram's idol in the newly constructed Ram temple. Twenty of these pillars will be strategically placed near the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, with 10 on each side of the road," mentioned PWD Assistant Engineer A P Singh.

While 10 pillars have already been installed, efforts are ongoing to mount ornamental orbs on the remaining 10 columns on the opposite side of the road. Singh added, "The other 20 pillars are positioned along the same road, situated beyond the Satrangi Pul near the Saket petrol pump. Work is progressing there, and our target is to finish by December 29."

These pillars, crafted from reinforced cement concrete, showcase decorative cladding made of a special fiber. They feature inscriptions like 'Jai Shri Ram,' Lord Hanuman's mace, and other ornate designs, symbolizing the essence of Ayodhya as the city of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman.

Initiated in October, the project's execution commenced earlier this month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the temple town on December 30, where he will inaugurate the revamped Ayodhya railway station and a new airport. He is also set to address a rally and conduct a roadshow from the airport to the city.

"When the prime minister arrives in Ayodhya after inaugurating the airport, he will enter through this road, and these 'Surya Stambhs' will serve as a welcoming sight to the temple town," Singh remarked.

The task of installing the sun-themed pillars was entrusted to a private company, which subcontracted a Mumbai-based firm for the job. Suncity Innovations, known for manufacturing and supplying street light poles and decorative poles, carried out the casting work for these pillars at its Nashik plant.

Moreover, special ornamental lamp posts adorned with motifs inspired by Hindu religion have been erected on the road divider in this specific area.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to participate in the "pran pratishtha," or the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol, scheduled for January 22.
