New Delhi: Supreme Court will hear today a plea seeking speedy hearing of the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi controversy. The five-judge Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will begin hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. In fact, Hindu advocate Gopal Singh Visharad has sought an early hearing of the main case, saying there is no concrete progress in the arbitration.

It is worth mentioning here that in the last hearing, the Committee had sought additional time for the arbitration process. The court had granted the committee a deadline of August 15. In fact, on March 8, former judge FM Kalifulla, religious guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu were appointed as arbitrators by the apex court. The court had asked all the parties to try to find an acceptable solution to the issue. The apex court had said that the panel would end the process in 8 weeks with the commencement of the process of settling the dispute through arbitration in 4 weeks.

Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had said that the arbitration process would be under court supervision and would be kept confidential. The top court had said that the arbitrator and people can join the panel if necessary. They can also seek legal help. The Government of Uttar Pradesh will provide all facilities to the arbitrators in Faizabad.
