The Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated in India on April 30 each year. The Ayushman Bharat Diwas is observed to accomplish two goals. They are responsible for providing insurance benefits to the underprivileged and promoting their health and wellbeing.

Salient features Ayushman Bharat Scheme:

Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission will have a defined benefit cover of Rs. 5 lakh per family per year.

In April 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Scheme. It is the world's largest health insurance programme. The beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Scheme  are chosen from the Socio-Economic Census Database.

Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission will be an entitlement-based scheme on the basis of deprivation criteria in the SECC database.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme is the largest health cover in the world.It seeks to give each family an annual health insurance benefit of five lakh rupees.

The Pradhan Mantri program's winners The Jan Arogya Yojana is for the poorest 40% of Indians.

The programme also includes pre- and post-hospitalization stays of fifteen days each. This includes the cost of the testing and medications.

Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana and the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme were incorporated into the new programme.

The programme offers packages that cost 15% less than the Central Government Health Schemes and include knee replacement, bypass surgery, and other treatments.

In partnership with NITI Aayog, a robust, modular, scalable and interoperable IT platform will be made operational which will entail a paperless, cashless transaction.

For giving policy directions and fostering coordination between Centre and States, it is proposed to set up Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission Council at apex level Chaired by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister.
