The promotion of the film is also going on loudly. Amidst all this, bad news has also come for the film. Director Janak Toprani has alleged that Dream Girl is a copy of his film.

The Times of India reported that Dream Girl is a remake of his 2017 film Call for Run, and the film also featured a female character by the lead character. He has said that he went to Balaji's office twice with this script, but it was rejected both times.

He had got a financier in the year 2018, after which he had decided to make the film and during this time he had told that he had a discussion with the production house and Ekta Kapoor was not part B. Even after many vows, he could not meet Balaji's CEO, Nachiket Pantvaidya. According to Janak, if the Dream Girl is similar to his film, then he will do a legal case on the film and he needs the rights of a writer in the film as well as credit as a writer.
