Baba Banda Singh Bahadur : Presecution from Mughals

The rule of the Sikhs over the entire Punjab east of Lahore obstructed the communication between Delhi and Lahore, the capital of Punjab, and this worried Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah. In favor of marching toward Punjab, he abandoned his plan to crush the insurgents in Rajasthan. Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was to be killed and defeated by the entire Imperial force.

All of the generals were told to enlist in the army of the Emperor. On August 29, 1710, a command was given to all Hindus to remove their beards in order to ensure that there were no Sikh agents in the army encampment.

When the Moghal army marched on Sirhind on orders from Munim Khan, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was in Uttar Pradesh, and by the time he returned, they had already seized Sirhind and the surrounding areas. As a result, the Sikhs relocated to Lohgarh for their decisive conflict. The Sikhs routed the army, but they requested reinforcements, and 60,000 warriors were sent to lay siege to the fort.

Gulab Singh assumed the appearance of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur by dressing in his attire and taking a seat. During the night, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur departed the fort and traveled to a hidden location in the highlands and Chamba jungles.

Emperor Bahadur Shah was shocked by the army's failure to capture or kill Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, and on December 10th, 1710, he issued an order that Sikhs should be killed wherever they were discovered. The Emperor suffered from mental instability and passed away on February 18, 1712.

The Sikhs were urged by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in his Hukamnamas to reform and immediately join him. Raja Bhim Chand, who was in charge of uniting all the Hill Rajas against Guru Gobind Singh and provoking conflicts with him, was defeated by the Sikhs in 1711 when they assembled close to Kiratpur Sahib. The other Hill Rajas acknowledged their position as inferiors after Bhim Chand's passing and made payments to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur retook Sadhura and Lohgarh while Bahadur Shah's four sons fought for control of the Mughal Empire.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur took the initiative in 1712 and captured Batala, Kalanaour, Sarhind, and Muzaffar Nagar, among other places. On February 1713, Farukh Seyer, the son of Azimu-Shaan, was installed as the next emperor of Hindustan at Delhi.

The following Mughal Emperor, Farakh Seyer, appointed Abdus Samad Khan as the Faujdar of Jammu and his son, Zakariya Khan, as the governor of Lahore.

The Sikhs abandoned Lohgarh and Sadhura in 1713 and moved to Jammu's isolated highlands, where they constructed Dera Baba Banda Singh. Sikhs were being persecuted at this time, particularly by Pathans in the Gurdaspur district. Farakh Seyer was admonished by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur for ordering Mughal and Hindu officials and chiefs to send their men to Lahore to support his army after he came out and conquered Kalanaur and Batala.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur disproved the notion that the Mughals couldn't be subdued for the first time. He imposed a democratic system. The underprivileged were given a sense of living with dignity. The land was owned by those who worked it. Baba Banda Singh Bahadur did not punish those who submitted; instead, he shielded and safeguarded the underprivileged. One instance is when Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's army of fighters, who did not want to battle him, was forced to submit and acknowledge his authority.
